Le Mirador
Kempinski in Switzerland announces the arrival of Nordic
Walking to Mont-Pèlerin. Le Mirador Kempinski becomes the
first hotel in the French speaking part of Switzerland to be
certified as a Nordic Walking Hotel.
Nordic Walking
is an outdoor sport, which is basically walking with special
poles. This technique activates approximately 90% of all
muscles in the body, as the arms, the upper body and the
legs get a thorough workout and it is, therefore, more
effective then normal walking. Nordic Walking is suitable
for all fitness levels, as it is a soft and smooth way to
practice endurance, coordination, power and flexibility. |

It's the largest lake of Western
Europe. Geneva Lake (also known as Lac Leman) is classified as a
crescent-shaped lake, with 224 sq mi (580 sq Kms.), c.45 mi (70 Kms.)
long, on the Swiss-French border, between the Alps and the Jura
mounts. About 134 sq. mi. are Swiss and 90 French. It has a maximum
depth of 1,017 ft (310 m). The Rhône River traverses the lake,
emerging at the western end at the city of Geneva. Noted for its
deep blue and remarkably transparent waters, the lake is dotted with
numerous resorts and villas. The northern (Swiss) shore is bounded
by sloping vineyards and orchards. The lake is subject to seiches,
tidal fluctuations that suddenly change the lake's level. A region
of great scenic beauty, Lake Geneva has been the favorite theme of
many writers (notably Rousseau and Byron). Lausanne and Montreux are
large lakeside cities quite nearby to Sciez. All water sports,
sailing, water skiing, oar, canoe, surf, swimming can be practised
on Lake Geneva, a true paradise for fishermen on the shore or on a
boat. |
