Raffaeli. |

N.16 Oscar Wilde
This very spacious room has a bow window opening onto a beautiful new
terrace. On the walls a huge emerald green fresco featuring phoenixes has
been reconstructed based upon an engraving depicting Wilde's dining room in
London. Traditional English furniture with an impressive bed-head decorated
with swans. A few framed reminder letters indicate that Oscar Wilde really
did stay here, even though he was never able to settle his bill!
In addition, an "ultra-British" bathroom with mahogany panelling and a
spectacular array of English fittings. |

|
 |
|
N.26 Marco Polo
Cornette de Saint Cyr at the Hotel Drouot auctioned the furniture:
impressive imperial seats, wooden bed panels, and gigantic porcelain vases...

|
N.36 Mistinguett
The bed, the dressing table and its clock as well as the stools designed by
Jean-Gabriel Domergue used to belong to Mistinguett and furnished the
bedroom of her house at Bougival. The walls are in trompe-l'oeil shagreen, a
material that was very highly prized in the Thirties. To complete the Art
Deco decoration Lalique sconces and drip-pans were picked up at salesrooms.

N.44 Roi de Naples
Furniture in the style of the French Restoration period with a royal canopy
over the bed. |

N.54 Reine Hortense
The daughter of Joséphine de Beauharnais, the stepdaughter of Napoleon and
the wife of the king of Holland (the emperor's brother), gentle Queen
Hortense was unswervingly devoted to her Paris mansion. A small sitting room
adjoining her bedroom was completely lined with thick loose hangings in soft
colours with a ceiling shaped like the roof of a tent. In this luxurious
room with a terrace Garcia creates a harmonious reinterpretation of
Hortense's charming boudoir. |

There is also a splendid antique travelling writing desk. |
|

|
N.52 Rues de Paris
This room owes its name to the wallpaper lining its walls, inspired by the

N.12 Léopard
The original 'leopard' room lined throughout with material of the same name
was always very popular with the Hotel's quests. Jacques Garcia has
reinterpreted the style with a more 'back to Africa' ambiance. |
|

The gold of the bed, the gold of the Italian armchair, the heavy damask gold
and red fabrics and even the painting of the lagoon; all reflect the
exuberance of the Venetian Republic. |
|
|
|
 |
|
N.32 Violet le Duc
Hung throughout with purple Genoese velvet with marvellously faded hues and
with furniture that is mediaeval in inspiration, this room is a tribute to
the neo-Gothic fashion that was all the rage in the 19th century. |
