Gardens:
There are oak trees planted in the formation of the battle of
the battle of Waterloo on the lawn in front of Longueville. They
were planted in 1815 and each tree represents a regiment in the
armies of Wellington and Napoleon.
The walled garden supplies Longueville with most of its fruit,
vegetables and herbs throughout the year. Occupying a space of 2.5
acres, it is surrounded by a large stone wall, which was erected in
1829. In its heyday there were 20 gardeners employed to keep the
garden and glasshouses. There is a gravel walk that will take you
around the garden. |
