Oviedo is the capital of the Principality of Asturias and is the administrative and commercial center of the region. It host the Annual Prince of Asturias Awards that are held in the Campoamor Theater.

Oviedo is a city rich in culture and history due to its large number of monuments. Five of them are on the World's Heritage list. In the city there are a number of different architectural styles such as the Pre-Romanesque where can be seen in sites such as  Santa Maria del Naranco Hall which is included in UNESCO´s World Heritage List. Also another site you can't miss is the San Miguel de LIllo church, the San Julián de los Prados church, and La Fancolada fountain.
