Chef's course

Without a real vocation, except that of being greedy, Olivier Bellin leaves to study at Le Paraclet High School in Quimper. He meets Chef Jean-Pierre Guillaume who will help him to motivate his career with passion. In 1991, he won the Best Young Chef of the West competition, which opened many doors for him. He chose the Landes, at Magescq, at Jean Coussau's and discovered the Gers products, foie gras and mushrooms, Adour salmon, game and truffle. At Pont Aven, closer to his roots, Olivier then enters Guy Guilloux's brigade at La Taupinière. It is certainly here that he will learn to sublimate the most beautiful products of the sea.

Spirit of the kitchen

Hidden behind the purity of selected products with extreme rigor, Olivier Bellin's cuisine is marked by technique. The man is a real author who seeks to make his dishes perfectly legible, consistent and representative of his region. The Chef wants to tell his terroir, that of Pointe Finistère, with taste and strength and does not hesitate to combine tripe products in the depths of the ocean as this langoustine married to a creamy black pudding or pig's foot to hulls in delicate stuffing.

Where many cooks evoke a cuisine "between land and sea", he created a real writing "land + sea". Also, his research on buckwheat brought him a unique signature, creating for example an amazing flavored butter or carrazin ice cream (caramel and buckwheat). This authentic Finistère product is then declined in many of his compositions. As in the "Kig Lobardz", his interpretation of Kig Ha Farz, traditional local dish, where he combines pig, buckwheat and lobster in a subtle bluffing modernity. Here, the cuisine has character while showing a certain and delicate elegance.

Discover a region of character

Several exceptional sites are just a stone’s throw from Plomodiern: Saint-Anne-la-Palud beach, Douarnenez and its harbour museum. La Pointe du Raz, Locronan and its medieval town. Quimper, its cathedral and its faience pottery but also a little further south, Pont-Aven, the town of painters...

"Everything starts in Finistère" says the slogan. Flamboyant sunsets, storms along the cliffs, here the show is permanent for unique emotions. Beyond the ocean, the region is rich in an exceptional heritage, in Quimper or in the many parish enclosures of the surrounding villages. Not to mention some castles or lighthouses, majestic symbols.

You need to know, for example one day experience the Pointe du Raz, this foam fringed with rocky headland in the distance, the lighthouse of Ar Men and the legendary island of Sein. And get lost in the Monts d'Arrée with evocative landscapes of the most beautiful tales. Or embark for the Glénans, this archipelago looking like a Polynesian atoll that never ceases to surprise even the most jaded travelers ...

Finistère invites you to all kinds of experiences. Surfing, sailing, paddle boarding, hiking or horseback riding, the possibilities seem limitless for sports enthusiasts. Going to meet fishermen, skippers or a collection of craftsmen is also a program for stays that you can not get enough of.

Plomodiern, between land and sea

On the flanks of Menez Hom, the highest mountain in the region, Plomodiern is ideally situated in the heart of Pays Glazick. 3 large sandy beaches allow you to enjoy the pleasures of the ocean: water sports or swimming for example while, in the countryside, miles of hiking trails take you to various chapels or fountains full of history. Everywhere, one contemplates the sublime Bay of Douarnenez haunted by the legend of the city of Ys, city engulfed by the waves ...

L'Auberge des Glazic

The history of L'Auberge des Glazicks dates back to 1870, when it was still a farriery. The work became more difficult at the beginning of the 20th century, the grandmother of Olivier Bellin decides to open a farm and put the family to work. The products are then served in a restaurant, installed instead of the farriery.

Here, the workers and inhabitants of the village meet for lunch around traditional dishes and at large banquets and weddings with Breton classics such as Saint-Jacques, American lobster, leg of lamb, veal or trays of veal. The transmission is from mother to daughter and Olivier grows up, often present with his mother, in the kitchen, ready to taste each of the dishes she prepares.

Spirit of the Room

In the room with soft colors, rich of large spaces between the tables and punctuated with some details (sculptures in driftwood or ceramic vases of Zavella), the team accompanies with delicacy the work of Olivier Bellin. It fuels the curiosity of customers about the quality of the products of the region and the beautiful history of the place. While observing, through the large bay window, the road of the clouds on the bay of Douarnenez, one lets oneself thus tell the cooking of the Chef and his love of Finistère, with relaxation but not without rigor and efficiency indissociable of the most beautiful addresses.

The Cave

The Auberge des Glazicks has a cellar with more than 700 references, open to all regions of France. From Languedoc Roussillon to Alsace to the unmissable Burgundy and Bordeaux, the wine list suggests to complete the Finistère adventure with some of the finest bottles. Powerful wines with deep nose or more mineral flavors can be discovered for harmonies full of accuracy with the dishes of Chef Olivier Bellin. Also discover the local producers, and taste typical wines of the Vendée strongholds which alone expresses all the richness of the Breton terroir.
