Your stay in Mansion House's Trullos
The unique features of the Murge landscape have combined with particular flair in this ‘800 mansion house, which is located a few km from Martina Franca, the baroque masterpiece of Valle d'Itria, and at a close reach from the main attractions of the area.
The mansion house includes 14 suites, equipped with all modern comforts: wireless internet, satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar. Here visitors may live the experience of sleeping in a "palmento", the area once employed for the production of wine, or may choose an apartment in which each room is a different "trullo", the traditional cone structure that forms the basis of local architecture.
Other offers include a suite with a groin-vaulted loft, one where wood benches gather around the fireplace of an alcove, one in which an ancient oven has been restored to function.
All bedrooms are accompanied by separate living rooms, and by a frontyard jutting on the countryside.
The furniture is ancestral, just like the family ambience that makes this mansion the ideal destination for anyone who wishes to meet the autentic soul of the land: wrought-iron beds, old doors adapted to cubbies, tables obtained from the wheels of the horsecart.
The swimming pool girdled with chestunt trees and a private 6-hectare wood of "fragni" (a variety of oak unique to this area) are available for relax and excursions. Breakfast and light lunch based on homemade products and rigorously prepared in the local tradition, are served in the old manger hall, adapted into a meeting place.
This is a group of three rooms located between the farmyard and the orchard of the Masseria. The sleeping and living areas are surmounted by stone vaults and graced by old fireplaces. They are equipped with every sort of comfort and with a private outdoor area for cosy relax. These are the standard suites of the Masseria.
Here you will know the emotion of sleeping where the grape was stored in times of yore, and the stum flowed and stirred. Three descending steps lead you into the sleeping area, faced by a cosy sitting room furnished in the style of local tradition. The comfortable bathroom include bathtub and shower. An external sitting area allows for outdoor relax.
It is the third suite in the ancient construction known as "palmento", the place where in the past grape was wrought into vine. The fireplace in a corner of the living area was the hearth employed in the production of "vino cotto", a mulled wine not unlike bishop. The suite is divided in two areas both giving onto the surrounding countryside. The bathroom includes Jacuzzi and shower.
Three "trullos", with their conical section of roofs, correspond to the three areas of this suite: one over the bedroom, one over the bathroom, and one over the lovely sitting-room acove, a homey environment surmounted by an imposing fireplace. The capacious bathroom includes the equipment common to all rooms.
A marvellous suite giving onto the Masseria's private woods. The two areas of the suite, both roofed with conical "trullos", afford a direct access to the wide garden area, which is the only partition between the suite and the "fragneto", a woodland composed of a variety of oaks to be found only in this subregion of Italy. The wrought-iron headboard of the bed and the chaise longue of the living area create precisely the atmosphere most typical of the Masserias of Valle d'Itria.
It is one among the amplest suite in the Masseria. The living room and the sleeping area are surmounted by wide vaults of stone; the fireplace, the wrought-iron bed, the wooden closet, and alla the furniture, are part of the traditional décor of the Masseria.
The wooden mezzanine above the sleeping area overlooks a wide sitting room reached through a small stone staircase. The corner fireside, the antique wrought-iron chaise-longue, and the wood closet with its layers of stone, reminds still one of the impressive fireplace it once was in the old farmer's house.
Once serving as a storehouse for agricultural tools and for the horse-drawn cart, it is located near the entrance of the Masseria, as if standing on guard at it. The two areas of the suite, one of which is graced by an ancient fireplace, are still paved with the old "chianche", the traditional type of paving of the Murge region.
This suite is named after the wide vaulted structure enveloping the sleeping area. Such a vault-covering, made with the particular kind of the white limestone found locally, was once the marl of the proprietor’s room. Soberly furnished in the rural style, the suite gives onto the ample farmyard, in the middle of which stands the elevated threshing floor. This room, just as the others, is equipped with all modern comforts.
More than a suite, a varitable apartment, with a wide sleeping area and a parlour equipe with its fireplace. The rooms are surmounted by stone vaults; the bed and furniture are antique pieces, reversibly restored. The comfortable bathroom includes bathtub and shower. An outdoor sitting-room adds to the elegance of setting.
