ABOUT PONZANO

Ponzano is located about 10 Kms. from Treviso and since 1807 they form the Municipality of Ponzano Veneto. Its origin is however to be found in the old times when its original settlement was established on lands belonging to the so called "Municipium Tarvisium" along the Postumia road (IInd century B.C.) connecting Aquileia and Concordia to Genua.
The church of Ponzano is a building dating to the XVIIIth century and has undergone several changes. A nice marble tabernacle by Giovanni Marchiori (XVIIIth century) can be seen as well as a washbasin dated to XVIIth century. The presbytery sides are adorned with two paintings showing Mary and Jesus. On the second altar on the left there is a piece showing Saint Francesco d’Assisi called "The Stigmata".
