Manor House Rooms

Mount Juliet’s tradition of hospitality dates back to the 18th Century, when young Somerset Butler and his new bride Juliet, moved into the newly refurbished house, renamed in her honour.

Over the years a great many illustrious people have dined, fished and hunted before resting in one of her 32 sumptuous bedrooms. These lavish bedrooms are named after a select few of our previous guests – The King of Ossory, The Black Earl, Lady Juliana and Fitzwilliam Le Gros.

Mount Juliet was designed during the Georgian era, so you will find the rooms as bright and as generously proportioned, as they are luxurious. Each individually decorated room is equipped with the latest technology and conveniences, including.

Hunter's Yard

In a bygone era when Mount Juliet Estate was a working farm of several thousand acres, a great many people were employed and housed on the Estate. Back then, Hunter’s Yard would have had horses and hay lofts, as well as lodgings for the grooms, coachmen and stable boys.

Today, this elegant courtyard, just five minutes' walk from the Manor house, is home to the bright and spacious rooms of the Hunter's Yard. A tranquil hideaway adjacent to our Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and only a few paces from the treatment rooms and the tempting menus of the Hound Restaurant at Hunter's Yard, which offers all-day dining.

The Stables

Mount Juliet Estate’s new banqueting suite, ‘The Stables’ is in a magnificent setting overlooking the signature Jack Nicklaus golf course.

The delicate colour scheme, with it's pale blues, gives it a bright, fresh and calming atmosphere, ideal whatever the event, meeting, conference, product launch or a fairytale wedding! The Stables can accommodate events of up to 180 guests seated at round tables. The solid oak floors, inset with bespoke carpet, adds further to the tone. The lighting fixtures are chandeliers made out of deer’s antlers, an echo of Mount Juliet Estate’s hunting heritage.

Jack Nicklaus Boardrooms

The Jack Nicklaus Boardroom named after the designer of our signature course is located in The Hunter's Yard, at the heart of the estate's sporting activities. This room is set apart by a large floor-to-ceiling window that creates a wonderful feeling of lightness and space.

The Caretakers

Located in the Manor house originally used by the housemaids as an area to clean silver, this discreet vaulted multi-functional space has French doors overlooking the river Nore.

This meeting space is an ideal venue for those looking for privacy combined with space.

The Drawing Room

Originally a lady's parlour guests retreated here after dinner admiring the front lawn of Mount Juliet house.

The Drawing Room can be used for meeting and also private dining.

The Loft

Discreet panelling on all sides of The Loft gives the room a refined elegance. Situated in The Hunter's Yard, The Loft offers a comfortable and hospitable haven for your business event or special dining experience.

Weddings

Mount Juliet is one of Europe’s oldest surviving walled estates, with 1,500 acres of parkland, meadow and forest, giving you the most romantic location – and atmosphere - for your wedding or civil partnership ceremony.

At present, we offer two unique venues for wedding parties, each appealing to different tastes, styles and sizes of wedding.

The Lady Helen wedding experience, in the Georgian Manor House, caters for up to 96 guests, in the Michelin Star Lady Helen Dining Room and the Tetratema Parlour.

A Hunter's Yard Wedding at The Stables, on the other hand, can cater for up to 180 guests, with breath-taking views over our championship golf course.

Mount Juliet Equestrian

Horses have been synonymous with Mount Juliet Estate for over 400 years and that is an association that we are proud to continue to the present day with our state of the art Equestrian Centre.

Mount Juliet Equestrian is one of the most advanced in the country, with two all-weather arenas, a full set of FEI approved show jumps and a 30 acre cross country course, in addition to trails spread across the 500 acre estate.

We want you to have an unbeatable riding experience, whether you’re having a lesson, riding a trail, jumping in the school, jumping cross country or attending one of our equestrian master classes, which cover many aspects of horse-riding, from show jumping to hunting.

Fishing On The Estate

Mount Juliet House is set on a large estate, which offers private fishing on 2.5 miles of the middle to lower reaches of the River Nore. Mount Juliet Estate offers fishing of the highest quality, just a short stroll away from the Manor House.

There is a fishing room on site in the Manor House for your convenience i.e. for storage and drying of fishing equipment. Mount Juliet Estate can also provide the necessary equipment on site if needed.

Falconry

There is some question as to whether the term ‘Sport of Kings’ refers to Falconry or to Horse riding. The good news is, we offer both at Mount Juliet. Your falconry experience takes the form of a walk through the estate, with our expert falconers from Hawkeye Falconry. Whether or not you have experienced falconry before, you will have your chance to handle these magnificent creatures, letting them fly from your gloved hand and returning to feed. It’s a profound experience to interact so closely with a hunting animal.

Golf

The world-famous Mount Juliet Estate Championship Golf Course was designed in 1988 by Jack Nicklaus, one of the greatest golfers of all time, and opened for in 1991. As you tee off onto our perfect fairways, you will be following in the footsteps of a long roll call of golfing greats such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo and Sam Torrance, each a former tournament winner at Mount Juliet.

The Saddle Bar

The Saddle Bar at Hunter’s yard is synonymous with the Estate’s equestrian history. It’s the ideal spot to relax after a long day or to drop in for a drink before dining in The Hound.

The team at the Saddle Bar have created three signature cocktails which reflect on the heritage and history of Mount Juliet Estate. The cocktails are Tizzie, Viper and Turks and all are named after favourite dogs owned by Mr McCalmont in the early 1900’s.

Tizzie is Beefeater 24 Gin, Passion Fruit Pureé, Muddled Mint, Honey Syrup & Egg White

Turks is Chase Vodka, Martini Bianco, Lemon Juice, Chamomile Syrup

Viper is Absolut Vodka, Creme De Mune, Thomas Henry Cherry & Grapefruit Lemonade, Lemon Juice

Lady Helen Restaurant

Lady Helen McCalmont, the previous owner of Mount Juliet, was a superb hostess, who oversaw the gardens and kitchens with a kindly but firm hand. We believe she would have been delighted to know we have maintained her standards, and that the restaurant bearing her name also bears a Michelin Star, along with three AA Rosettes.

Our internationally-themed menu consists of dishes made using local ingredients, including many from our own kitchen garden, herb garden and farm. The atmosphere of opulence within the Lady Helen Restaurant complements the pastoral views out over the pastures to the River Nore, racing its way south to Inistioge.

The Hound in Hunter's Yard

The Hound in Hunter's Yard is a warm, inviting, ‘one-size-fits-all’ place to eat. Our new menu includes soups, sharing platters, salads and an extensive main course menu to suit all tastes. It’s welcoming, it’s informal, it’s child friendly and it’s good value – above all, it has commanding views of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course that will take your breath away.

The Hound is a proud member of Good Food Ireland and Executive Chef Ken Harker shares the philosophy of prioritising the core indigenous ingredients of Irish cuisine supporting Irish farmers, food producers and fishermen.

The Major's Bar

The residents’ bar at the Manor House is called the Major's Bar, and is named after Major-General Sir Hugh McCalmont and Major Dermot McCalmont who both lived at Mount Juliet Estate.

The Major's Bar is a place to sit back and contemplate the world, taking in the stunning views of the River Nore and the rolling pastures of the Estate, or reflecting on its equestrian glories, displayed on the Ballylinch Wall of Fame.

It’s a place where guests can relax and enjoy good conversation and a pre-dinner drink, while admiring memorabilia from Mount Juliet’s racing glory days.
