Mykonos island
is world famous. Cosmopolitan, and picturesque, with
dazzling beaches,
relentless nightlife, renowned restaurants,
inspiring architecture, and an astoundingly diverse
crowd. Along
its whitewashed,
cobbled
streets, stand brilliant white cubic houses with stepped
walls for sitting on wooden doors and windows and brightly
coloured balconies.
The cultural life of Mykonos
, is also very interesting. There are three art galleries, the musty Municipal
Library, the Fine Arts School, the four museums. The
spiritual focal point is the shadowy 18th-century
monastery of Panaghia Tourliani, also a must to
visit.
Delos should also be visited. The most
extensive ancient site in Greece is just 40 minutes
by boat, but light years away from the hustle of
Mykonos harbour.
From the hotel,
you can also take a short walk to Plati Gialou,
the fishing harbour where water taxis leave regularly for nearby
popular, hidden beaches. Mykonos Harbor has regular high-speed
passenger and car ferry services to Raffina (Athens) and the
Cycladic & Dodecanese islands.
