Set among
the wooded Umbrian hills, the imposing Castello dell'Oscano was saved
from ruin at the end of the 18th century by a Tirolese Austrian named
Telfner. Today it functions as a prestigious and elegant period
residence of extraordinary charmed and seduction, a time warp through
which guests can imagine themselves in another age as they stroll
through the park, eat in the magnificent dining room or just read a book
in the castle's well-stocked library. In the main rooms of the castle
there are eleven large very spacious double bed rooms with ensuite
bathrooms. All the bedrooms are different. Some have four poster beds,
some are in the circular towers of the castle, some have balconies, most
have views over the surrounding countryside; all are elegantly furnished
with luxurious fittings and antique furniture (The ones in the Castle
feature original antique style from the 17th & 18th Century)
Within Villa Ada, which is situated alongside the main castle and named
after the Countess that used to live here, there are a series of other
double bed rooms. All these rooms are tastefully furnished with ensuite
bathrooms. The furniture, despite it is not original as the one of the
castle rooms; it's classical and very elegant.
The reception rooms in the main castle, which are for all guests to use,
are steeped in the history of the building. There is a lovely old
library, elegant rooms with easy chairs and an enormous entrance hallway
with a majestic stairway leading up to the bedrooms. The dining room is
in the Turnadot Hall and your meals here will introduce you to some of
the finest cuisine in Umbria. The outside terraces and gardens have
quiet and peaceful places in which to relax and there is also a swimming
pool within the castle's estate.
Last but not least, as you approach Castello dell'Oscano on the imposing
driveway up through the gardens of the castle, which are extensive and
beautifully maintained, you will get the very real sense that you are
arriving at a special place... you will not be disappointed!. |
