Can such breathtaking beauty be taken in at one? It stretches out at our feet freely – a gift, given totally, brashly, recklessly. But until you climb to the crest, follow the pristine mountain stream, take an ever narrowing path, you never quite realize that you have arrived: You have made it to Ostapé.
Behold the view like a rough sea: a sea of hills, an earthly swell tectonically fixed for centuries and to last for centuries yet to come. A vast, green wave rolling in sweetness and warmed in the sun, coloured only rarely by a few red-tiled roofs and an incalculable number of the minute white pinpricks that are Basque sheep. In the distance, an even higher rocky ridge shaded in mauve, the emerald green bursting forth in sheer silence.
The forests here are beautiful, with firs, chestnuts, beech, and oak trees, the symbol of the Basque Country that can be found on both sides of the Pyrenees. Many oak trees have their sturdy roots in Ostapé, a name that literally means " in the shadow of the oak tree". Porcini mushrooms grow profusely at the foot of the oaks fed by the rain and sun. Local roads make it easy to cut down ferns, gorse and brooms. There are trails that weave their way through the rocky hillside.

Time to have a rest in one of our 22 suites (from 45 to 91 sqm), with their independent entrance and their imposing fireplaces. They all bear the name of a tree: Aritza (the oak), Leizara (the ash tree)...
All are decorated differently with terrace or rez- de jardin. The first one in the manor house has been kept intact (riding boots in front of the fire place, paintings, four-poster bed…), a second one all in crème tonality, a third decorated by French designer Philippe Hurel… Comfort, intimacy and silence.

Upon arrival, guests leave their car at the stables, and are given a golf cart for visiting the property and going from the main building to the houses.

The Auberge Ostapé welcomes meetings, receptions, cocktails …and can easily become private for events.

Thanks to its accommodation capacity, its meeting rooms and gastronomic restaurant classified at the Michelin Guide, the Auberge Ostapé is the perfect place to organize the strong moments and professional meetings of your firm.

You will appreciate the comfort of our suites, panoramic view over the mountains and our top end services as the outdoor heated swimmin gpool, sauna, hammam and jacuzzi.

The 22 suites, which are particularly spacious, are equipped with balcony or terrace, and a few of them have fireplace. We can organize suites for single, double or twin occupancy.

Ostapé Restaurant

On the terraces or in the black and white dining rooms, the chef, Cédric Roubin, his three cooks and his pastry cook create menus respecting the traditions of the Basque cuisine, and mixing high-quality local products.
Tuna from Saint Jean de Luz, Banca trouts, Aldudes pork, vegetable and herbs, ewe cheese, fruits from the orchard, and a lot more products are the basis of a simple Navarran cuisine, the menu changing each day, according to the chef's ideas and inspiration.
