The Divani Palace Acropolis
Hotel is situated at the foot of the Acropolis, with a
magnificent view of the Parthenon Constitution Square, with
the changing of the Guard and the area of Plaka with its
picturesque, narrow, winding streets and charming boutiques
within close range. The Hotel's location also offers quick
access to the Port of
Piraeus, where cruises and ferries depart practically to all
the Greek Islands.
The Acropolis or the "Sacred Rock" as it is
sometimes called, is the one historical sites in Athens you can't miss.
You can wander up there yourself which is easy and more
pleasant than ever because the large avenues which border the south and
west of the site have been turned into giant pedestrian streets with
cafes and restaurants and the walk is quite pleasant.
Athens houses some good museums, including
the Benaki Museum, whose collection features, among others, Mycenaean
jewelry, Greek costumes and memorabilia from the Greek Revolution, that
should also be visited. The Goulandris Museum of Cycladic and
Ancient Greek Art is one of the best museums in the city, and includes
objects from the Cycladic civilization, pre-Minoan Bronze Age, collections
up to the Classical period. |
