Palacio de Santa Ines * * *

The Palacio de Santa Ines has two small Mudejar buildings built in the first third of the 16th Century. This is the sister of Carmen de Santa Ines, and both were house built several centuries ago which have been converted into hotels. The ownership being the same accounts we must say for the flair of decoration being also equal in the two buildings, lots of antiques in every room, some of them actual treasures.
The Palacio de Santa Ines is only a couple of blocks away from its sister, the only meal served is breakfast. There are lots of restaurants and snack bars very close by and being right in the centre of Albaicin, the traditionally old Arab sector, you can almost walk to the Alhambra. As a matter of fact it shouldn´t take more than 20 minutes walking from Palacio de Santa Ines.
From some of the rooms of Palacio de Santa Ines you can see magnificent the Alhambra building, at night is quite a sight. Is important to mention that if you arrive here by car be prepared for some real narrow street driving, to the point of having to bend in the rear view mirrors in your car.
Crossing the small hall at the entrance, the voyager will be fascinated by the interior beauty of the Patio of the paintings with its fountain, columns, balustrade, ornamental tile and in particular by the renaissance paintings conferred to Alejandro Mayner and Giulio Romano, disciples of Rafael, who came to Granada in 1520 to paint the "Peinador de la Reina" in the Alhambra and... The Palacio de Santa Inés.
