Palazzo
Terranova is located hidden away up a steep, winding track on the
fabulous hillside of North East Umbria near the Tuscan border. An 18th
century mansion remodeled into an exquisite country house with
landscaped gardens, vaulted dining rooms and high-ceilinged galleries
with inviting sofas and bursting bookshelves, which added to its
peaceful atmosphere, stunning position, and warm inviting interiors,
makes it a perfect retreat for those who appreciate the good things in
life. Its bedrooms are done out in carefully chosen pastel colours, with
varnished or painted ceiling beams and terracotta floor tiles. Huge
wooden wardrobes and dressers, low coffee tables and chairs, secretaries
and writing desks, are part of the furniture that from all over Europe
has been brought to uniquely decorate each one of them. Meals are served
either inside, in the warm dining room, or outside on the terrace, under
a parasol or a reddening sky. The restaurant is proud of its regional,
seasonal masterpieces, which include plenty of local game and
vegetables, herbs and soft fruits picked straight from the garden. For
relaxing, the grounds and terrace provide ample space for outdoor
wandering and the less active can enjoy the large drawing room and
book-lined library, the piano room and the outdoor amphitheatre. |
