In 1927 the journalist and entrepreneur, Cosimo Mollica Alagona began the construction of the original Hotel Villa Paradiso dell’Etna to take advantage of the sites and surroundings that the likes of Goethe, Houel, Maupassant and other literary greats so enjoyed in their travels.
The hotel’s grand opening was in December 1929. Equipped with the most modern amenities of that time, Villa Paradiso dell'Etna soon became the meeting place for artists and well-known dignitaries. The famous Catanian actor Angelo Musco described it as "a heavenly place by name and fact".

Villa Paradiso is a refined residence immersed in a century-old park at the foot of Mt. Etna. It was built in the early twenties and has maintained the fascinating atmosphere of an old Sicilian country house.
Today, after careful and wise renovation works, which took place about 13 years ago, we can be proud to boast about being a reference point for many faithful guests who after having celebrated their wedding banquet in our hotel are happy to come back to Villa Paradiso to celebrate all important events such as child christening, Holy Communion, birthdays, anniversaries, or just to have a dinner among friends. The spacious meeting rooms are furnished with old style furniture and romantic fireplaces which can hold up to 250 people.
In the summer season, the events take place in the wonderful setting of the old century park, where the swimming pool, the gazebos and the various charming and picturesque spots offer a magical atmosphere and a perfect setting for a wedding banquet or for a picture book of the event.

The three conference rooms at the Hotel "Villa Paradiso dell’Etna", offer the most modern and hi-tech business equipment for company meetings and conferences. The truly welcoming "Musco" suite (max capability 160/180 people) has warm décor and pleasant garden views.
The "Mollica" suite (max capability 25 people), with a lava stone wall, the panelling and the liberty windows, create a warm environment for small meetings, working breakfasts or enjoyable non business gatherings. Finally, the new multipurpose panoramic “Etna” suite (max capability 120 people), of which the predominant colour is in harmony with the surrounding green park, is well equipped, which makes it ideal for conferencing events.
The Hotel Villa Paradiso dell’Etna is located in an ideal site, from which it is very easy to visit the countless architectural and naturalistic beauties of Eastern Sicily.
The Hotel stands at the foot of Mt. Etna and represents the perfect starting point from which to reach the Etna ski cableway in Nicolosi (South Etna) or those of Linguaglossa (North Etna), or to visit the impressive lava flows, which over the centuries have erupted from Mt. Etna.
The lava flow is a real show to be admired at least once in one’s own life. The entrance to the Highways is just a few miles away from the Hotel (km. 4).

The main characteristic of the restaurant La Pigna, in a warm and refined atmosphere, is the gastronomical tradition of the Catania region, a land which smells of sea, lava rocks and fire.
The excellent and delicious cuisine of the Villa Paradiso offers a rich menu, which is the result of a painstaking search and exaltation of a combination of various flavours and the maximum optimizing of the local farm products which arrive from the best known surrounding production areas: the pistachios from Bronte, honig and porcini mushrooms from the Etna, red oranges from the Catania region.
And then the Ionio sea at table, the sea in front of you, which every day offers its sweet-smelling fragrance of the fresh fish. The masterpiece is the sea salad with the exquisite Royal patelle, which are big mother-of-pearl shells. Then the swordfish, the anchovies, the sardines, the paddlefish, the red mullets, the sea-urchins which suggest the countless and unexpected solution for preparing different dishes.
Not to be missed in our welcomes the arancini made with rice and filled with tomatoes, aubergines and string cheese. For the vegetarians there is the soup with fresh broad beans, the caliceddi or the filled artichokes.
Magical moment: the sweets. We offer a vast choice of typical local sweets and among them the St. Agata's minne, a delicate sweet with a cherry in syrup in the form of a nipple, and the cannoli, ice-cream and soft ice-cream.
The rich wine list is, also, aimed on Sicily and in particular on the Etna wines: a land with a high call for wine-producing. And it is in the areas around Mt. Etna, where thanks to the particular climatic condition linked to the volcano,that is produced the Etna Doc, a wine in three different qualities: white, red and ros'. These wines are obtained from the grapes of four different species of vines: the Carricante, the Cataratto, the Nerello Mascalese and the Nerello Mantellato.
