Park Hotel Siena was formerly the country house of the noble Gori family. The Count Gori commissioned its building before 1530 from the most famous architect the city could boast: Baldassarre Peuzzi. He was a fellow citizen and a friend, but he was also an artist and was used to being called to Rome to work for the Farnese family on projects such as the Farnesina in which money was no object.
The Park Hotel Siena is on a hill very near the walled in city, with a wonderful view of the valley. The rooms are all comfortable, but particularly the standard ones, which happen to be also the least expensive, are quite nicest; these rooms although they don’t have a view of the valley as good as the others, they all have a very convenient semi-separate sitting area in each room and this is something that can prove to be quite attractive if you plan to stay for more than one night. Among the amenities of the hotel is also a six hole golf course. Pretty nice and challenging for any golfer that wishes to polish up on hill side practice. |
