Housed in a
19th-century mansion occupied by General Pershing during World War I,
the Hotel Pershing Hall is a luxury hotel located in the very heart of
Paris in one of the city's most elegant districts. A noble façade with
an elegant architecture welcomes guests and introduces them into a
dramatic stone tunnel, illuminated in vivid colours that change every
eight minutes. The contemporary lobby features a floor-to-ceiling column
of tropical plants, a spectacular jungle garden 34-metre high, with 300
varieties of plants and flowers cascading down the wall that is lit up
at night by hundreds of fairy lights. A bewildering fusion of patterns,
textures, and shapes invade the public spaces. Transparent glass-bead
curtains throw pearls of light onto heavy wooden doors; floors flow
smoothly from Italian glass-mosaic into white stone and stained oak;
modern multicolour light fixtures illuminate the ceiling mouldings
creating the feeling of perfection and originality. The guest rooms are
true secret gardens where a palette of colours, white walls with
splashes of camel and chocolate, free-standing halogen lamps, and other
details form a harmonious sensuality.
Pershing Hall is definitely the masterpiece of famous designer Andrée
Putman, who has transformed the simplest things into the most unexpected
ways, and who has managed to maintain the kind of personal, refined
touches that suit Paris so well, attracting to its buzzing lounge bar,
where a DJ performs most nights and to its restaurant, the preferred
meeting place for those who appreciate the virtues of gastronomy, a
stream of chic young Parisians. Here, it is all about beauty, comfort,
and well-being. |
