Madeira Cable Car & Traditional Wicker Sledge

Make a very pleasant trip from Funchal to Monte in the cable car system which will give you and spectacular view of the whole bay, it's a 10 minutes rides. Also enjoy rides in the traditional wicker sledge.

Monte Garden Restaurant

It has a great view of the surrounding gardens. The Restaurant offers Madeiran, Portuguese and International dishes, selected by the chef. A hand picks wine menu of Portuguese and International brands seals the offers.

Set among luxurious vegetation, the parish county or suburb of Monte boasts some of the most beautiful Quintas of Madeira (former residences of old Madeiran noble families and wealthy tradesmen and merchants). The world famous Monte Palace Gardens is a stone throw away and a new cable car system offers some breath-taking scenery when ascending from the Funchal "Zone Velha" to Monte. Monte is best known for its important ecclesiastical status - it is legend that the Virgin Mary appeared before a young shepherdess nearby.
