There are many stories and memories within the walls where you are right now. Hotel Real Segovia was, back in the day, the first luxury hotel in Segovia, back then known as ‘Gran Hotel Las Sirenas’. It opened in 1952, boosted by the large amount of film shootings that were taking place at the time.
Our hotel has accommodated movie stars such as Sophia Loren, who requested her room be renovated to her taste and ordered it to be adjoining with another room so that she could use both as her dressing room and office. Sophia stayed here whilst filming The Pride and the Passion (1957) and The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964). It was in our cosy hotel that she established her friendship with Cary Grant, which some say was more than just friendship.
Recently inaugurated in 1952, the hotel welcomed legendary actress Joan Fontaine during the shooting of Decameron Nights. It was the first shooting of a foreign film in Segovia. Many of the scenes were shot in Plaza de San Martín, located right in front of the hotel.
Many Spanish movie stars also stayed at Gran Hotel Las Sirenas, among them Carmen Sevilla, who stayed here in 1957 while filming Aventura para dos. Many of the scenes in this film were shot in Plaza Mayor.
Not only movie stars stay at our hotel, but also famous musicians such as Leopold Stokowski in 1956, considered as one of the greatest orchestra directors of the Twentieth Century; the great pianist Antonio Iglesias, also in 1956; and harpist María Robles in 1957.

Ask for directions to Plaza Mayor or introduce “Plaza de la Rubia” into your GPS. You will see a sign that prohibits traffic except for hotel guests. Get to Plaza Mayor and turn left onto Calle Infanta Isabel. At the far end on the right you will find our loading bay spaces. From here, walk down Calle Real and the hotel is just 1 minute away.
