Le Relais De Franc Mayne is located in a 7-hectares vineyard, 1 km from the medieval village of St. Emilion on the ancient Gallo-Roman path. It offers guests an outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi. Each room is uniquely decorated and has air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV and iPod and iPhone docking stations. They first present you the characteristics of the vineyard of St Emilion and the specifications of Château Franc Mayne. Then you go in the vat room and have some explanations about the process of making red wine, and finally you cross the ancient quarries that goes from the post house to the where the limestone was extracted to built St Emilion and the surrounding to the part which was converted in a barrels cellar.
Of course, you'll have the opportunity to go into the tasting room, where you can taste two different vintages and advices about the way to taste wine are given.

Le Relais de Franc Mayne is situated on the D243 road which links Libourne to St-Emilion. From St-Emilion, simply turn left toward Libourne at the roundabout in the higher part of the village; after a kilometre the chateau will be on your left. Parking is free. From the hotel, you can reach the Landes de Gascogne Natural Park in an hour, the coast at Basson d’Arcachon in an hour and a half, and Bordeaux in 40 minutes.
From Saint-Emilion: At the roundabout on the higher part of the village, turn left toward Libourne. Drive 1 km and the chateau will be on your left. There are 3 flags at the entrance: Belgian, European and French.
From Bordeaux: Direction Libourne/Perigueux. On the N 89, drive toward Libourne and then take the Exit 9 (Libourne-Est). When you cross the Dordogne river, take the second exit "Saint Emilionh" at the round about. Once you are on the road D243, drive 4 km, the Chateau is on your right. There are 3 flags at the entrance: French, European and Belgian.
La Maison is 30 minutes from the airport in Bordeaux, which is served by BMI baby, British Airways, EasyJet, Flybe and Ryanair.
Follow signs to Libourne and then to St-Emilion, or take the airport bus to the train station (€7; 45 minutes), then the direct train to Libourne (30–45 minutes) and finally hop in a taxi for the last seven kilometres.
The hotel is a 15-minute drive from the station in Libourne; from here you can catch direct trains to several locations including Bordeaux in 30–45 minutes, Poitiers in an hour and a half and Toulouse in two and a half hours.
