Le
Relais du Soleil d'Or is an old hotel in a romantic old French
town in which the river Veze runs right through the middle of
the city. The hotel is less than a block away from the river
bank. The main front building of this hotel was formerly a
coaching inn (a hundred years ago). The property as a whole is
quite large, including a beautiful garden park in the back,
which adds a lot to the relaxing atmosphere of the place. An
important part of this hotel is its restaurant, situated in a
covered terrace with view to the pool and the park, which in
keeping with Perigordin tradition, offers a remarkable cuisine
at very affordable prices. The rooms of this hotel are very
simple in their decor and could probably use some refurbishing,
but for the price they are OK, although some of them may be a
bit small, except for the ones with bed arrangements of full bed
plus a twin bed or a full bed plus a sofa bed, which are bigger.
This is a place to book the demi pension (half board) which
includes a dinner table in a refined restaurant. So for any one
wishing to visit the famous Dordogne - Perigord area at an
affordable price, Le Relais du Soleil d'Or is a perfect solution,
specially on half board rate, and if you are traveling with
family, the deal becomes even better. |
