The Equestrian Centre
I Due Laghi Irish Drug Hunt Club has been a British Horse Society approved training Centre since 1999, the first in Italy. There are three qualified instructors at the centre: Pierpaolo Quagliariello, a F.I.S.E Level 2 instructor and an International Showjumper; Maria Guttridge, a British Horse Society intermediate Instructor, international Level 2 and British Equestrian Tourism Centre Manager and Eloisa Cempella, Equestrian Tourism guide and Pony Club Instructor.
The Riding Centre is fournished with two outdoor arenas: one is 90m x 50m and the otherone is 40m x 40m; an outdoor grass arena 100m x 50m for Cross Country practising and and 140 hectars of rolling hills with 35 Cross Country and hunting jumps for all to enjoy. For hte “ Happy Hackers” there are the most breathtaking views whichever direction one looks!
The two arenas are fully equipped with show jumps and a dressage arena. There are 45 boxes and 6 pony stalls with many paddoks of various sizes. There are over 60 horses living on the farm from competition horses, school horses, ponies, liveries and the retired ones.
All horses are of the kindest nature and perform to a good standard of dressage, show jumping, hunting and hacking.
I due Laghi Riding Centre is wideley known for its respect toward animals, specially horses in all stages of their life. All horses are left to roam free in a herd over the farm, none of them will ever be put down just for an old age, lameness or injury, instead, they will spend in peace in this wonderful Country Side area the last days of their lives.
The 0 Km Organic Farm
In the 120-acre I Due Laghi Organic Farm, Sheep, goats and cows graze freely among the hills which dominate the two lakes of Bracciano and Martignano. The Estate has three Italian breeds historically recognized and included in the national herd books: the Maltese Sicilian Goats, Sheep of Sardinia and Cows of Maremma. Natural pastures and self produced hay constitute the basic food of the animals and determine the certified quality of the organic products: ICEA REG.N. ITICAG1309
Goat Milk is appreciated since long time for its high nutritional value and hypoallergenic characteristics which distinguish it for the realization of excellent dairy products. Highly digestible, both in natural and processed form, it is ideal for everyone and particularly suitable for children, the elderly, convalescents and people intolerant to other types of milk. Zeus itself was suckled by the divine goat named amalthea. The milk of the maltese goats bred in the estate is particularly suitable for cheese yield (20/22%), quality and taste. The grass of the natural pastures and hay give a very special taste and aroma to the cheese, making it delicate and tasty at the same time. The transformation takes place in the dairy farm using fresh whole milk, rennet, lactic ferments, certified organic spices and salt. All this means maximum traceability and short chain.
The organic farm “I Due Laghi” exists since 1980. Since the beginning, due to a choice in which we strongly believe, we respect nature and its times. For this reason, parts and lactations follow the biorhythms of animals (we do not induce oestrus artificially, nor force milk production). Kids and lambs are suckled by their mothers until weaning. The lactating period for the goats runs from February to October, the sheep's one from September to April. Therefor the production of cheeses goes accordingly. The respect of the harmony of natural balances translates into a quality guarantee for the consumer's health.
Own Cheese Production
It is possible to play Golf in the two structures affiliated with I due Laghi Estate:
one is the Olgiata Golf Club, just 25 km from the hotel
the otherone is The House of Golf in Sutri (VT), 25 km from the hotel
We recommend diving sessions for groups of at least 5 participants in close by areas such as the coast line between Civitavecchia and Ostia where it's plenty of archeological sites even in shallow water. The diving difficulty of this area is very limited and this enables everybody to practice this sport. The activity is monitored and coordinated by instructors and archaeologists who provide technical assistance and equipment.
In addition to the free activities available in the wide open spaces of the countryside and those which can be practiced in the clean waters of the two lakes such as swimming and all water sports with the exception of those involving the use of engines (including sport fishing), a big area in the Hotel is dedicated to the free use of cardiotonic machines.
