THE GIRONDE |
| |
|
The Gironde is
the biggest department in France, 10.000km2, shaped by the intersection of
the Garonne and Dordogne. The river has received the nickname of the
European-Mississippi. For those who like a traditional resort, the bassin
d'Arcachon is only 45 minutes from Bordeaux. Climb the highest sand dune,
the Pyla (112 m), enjoy several lakes and the pine forest of Landes and
Gascogne (the widest forest in Europe) and finally discover the 1 000 000
hectares of vineyards. Savour at any time of the day the greatest Bordeaux
wine with its different appellations. |
