Hotel Royal Plaza Montreux is the only five-star property located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva at just one hour from Geneva International Airport in the heart of Montreux and close by the Convention Centre. The hotel offers outstanding facilities in a wonderful setting overlooking the lake and the magnificent Alps. Built in 1982, the Royal Plaza provides guests with a majority of rooms facing the lake, each with its own balcony. Indeed, the hotel was described by one American guest as “the hotel with the one million dollar view”. The refurbished lobby – now doubled in size – and the new Sunset Bar, with its burnished copper ceiling and wall-to-wall windows, offer panoramic views of the lake and the mountains beyond. Guests can enjoy cocktails and canapés and drink in the view as they watch the sun go down. The Royal Plaza has just emerged from a major renovation and now offers 146 elegantly-appointed rooms and suites, redecorated in contemporary style. Each room is fully equipped. The hotel’s à la carte restaurant, La Croisette, serves international and local cuisine to the highest standards. Fish from Lake Geneva is one of the specialities of Chef Jean-Marie Pelletier. The Mediterranean- and Sicilian-style Café du Lac, right by the lakeshore promenade, serves light meals at lunchtime and evenings as well as ice-cream, pastries, coffee and afternoon tea. The airy Belvedere is open for breakfast daily, Sunday brunch, themed evenings and food festivals. It is also available for private functions. Enjoy a typical Swiss evening with live entertainment, a New Orleans buffet with jazz ensemble, a castle dinner with wine tasting or dinner onboard a traditional steamer while cruising on Lake Geneva. The Atlantis Spa, the private jetty and the lakeshore promenade in front of the hotel can be used for various sporting activities and themed events. Alternatively, groups can take part in winter sports in the morning and water-skiing in the afternoon (nearest ski resort is 45 minutes). Other options include golf, hiking, bicycling or a visit to historic Chateau Chillon and the vineyards of Lavaux. |
