Orbetello is located in the south of Tuscany, on a small tongue of land surrounded by the Lagoon Natural Reserve, which on 1842 was connected to the peninsula of Monte Argentario by a causeway built across the lagoon. The origins of Orbetello date to the VIII century A.C. but many utensils findings and the existing town walls, attest the town was habited by Etruscan people at least until VII century A.C.
