The new Hotel Sancho Abarca, a “Hotel with History”, opens its doors in the summer of 2010, after a complete reconstruction of its facilities and the acquisition of new land for expansion. Located in the city center, The Hotel is built in archaeological remains from Roman and Moorish (open to the public), where you will find some of the history of the city.
The hotel has 57 comfortable and modern rooms, designed to meet the expectations of customers and where they can relax and unwind after a workday, tour, etc. The ceilings are decorated with art in the history of the domes most representative of the city (photographic panel of the culture and history of Huesca).

The Hotel Sancho Abarca is located in the city center of Huesca, in the shadow of the Cathedral. Highlights:

  • Town hall: Aragonese Renaissance style building, built in the sixteenth century. Among its most significant dependencies it includes: Entry Patio, the Hall of Justice and the Imperial College of Santiago.
  • Cathedral: Gothic style. Initiated in the thirteenth century but not finished until the sixteenth century, is built on the old Muslim mosque. The main altarpiece is made of alabaster. Historic Artistic Monument since 1931.
  • Provincial Museum: Original building built as the Palace of the Kings of Aragon, in the place where stood the Muslim citadel. Preserved: The Throne Room, Doña Petronila Chamber and Hall Bell. Between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries was the seat of the University of Huesca.
  • Diocesan Museum: Interesting religious art shows. Includes works of gold, and the Choir Stalls of the Cathedral and Abbey Altarpiece Montearagón.
  • Church and Cloister of San Pedro el Viejo: Declared National Monument in 1855, is linked to the history of the Kings of Aragon. It is one of the most important collections of Romanesque Aragon, and one of the 2 Royal Mausoleums of Aragon unique, where the remains of Alfonso the Battler and Ramiro II the Monk. Tradition says that here was guarded the Holy Grail for 4 ages.
  • Surrounding the old city stands the Wall of Huesca: Built in the ninth century by Muslims, already found a fortified core of the Iberian-Roman at the uptown.


Also if you prefer you can visit the Parque Miguel Servet, city lung, two minutes from the hotel, as well as streets closest to it, they are full of shops and commercial activity. We would not skip buildings such as:

  • Villahermosa Palace: Recently restored. Importantly it coffered ceiling. The current building is a Renaissance palace Aragon.
  • Provincial de Huesca: Porches located in Galicia. Old palace of Aragon, built on the former site of the Convent of San Francisco. The basement hosts a series of Iberian ruins.
  • Olympia Theatre, recently renovated.
  • Our dear Basilica of San Lorenzo's sleeping pattern of Oscenses, whose name honors that religious temple, surrounded by a multitude of Churches and houses of worship. Baroque temple built on a small Romanesque and Gothic expanded.
  • The Miguelas: Small Gothic church with Romanesque tradition Tower (the primitive church was Romanesque). The monastery houses a community of nuns.
  • CDAN (Art and Nature Center): Beulas Foundation (contemporary art collection). Focused on the visual arts, is a landmark study in the itineraries of contemporary art.

Huesca is well connected, through excellent road and air.

By road

  • The A-23 motorway linking Zaragoza and Huesca with the rest of the country.
  • The National 240, Huesca on Lleida joins (A-22, highway under construction) linking to Barcelona for the AP-2.
  • Once the city, Hotel Sancho Abarca is clearly marked by signs indicating, from any of the entrances to the city in which you are.


Airports

  • The Airport “Huesca Pyrenees“, it is only 10 miles of Huesca.
  • A little over half an hour of the city, is the Airport Saragossa.


Intermodal station

  • Regular Services buses with the main Spanish: Saragossa, Barcelona, Lleida and Pamplona.
  • Regular Services RENFE, with daily High Speed (AVE) to and from Zaragoza (40 minutes) and Madrid (2 hours). It also has regular links to Zaragoza, Teruel and Valencia.
