Hotel San Michele is the most central accommodation of the town, a few steps from the main squares (location of the most important events), and the major attractions of Cortona: MAEC, Diocesan Museum, Signorelli Theatre. Conference Center Sant'Agostino is less than 100 meters from our Hotel. You can find the best restaurants few steps far from us. Hotel San Michele allows to its customer to arrive directly in the center of the town because it is the only one in Cortona to have a private garage or a parking place.

The "Bar dell'Accademia" opens this year with the scope of offering a service to the guests of Hotel San Michele and not only: after so many efforts to guarantee a complete service we decided to create a space not only used for breakfast, but also oriented to serve evening meals.

Hotel San Michele is located in the historical centre of Cortona, only 50 meters from the Sant'Agostino congress centre, the only venue truly equipped in Cortona.

The congress hall is located inside the old St. Agostino convent. The congress rooms, with their frescoed ceilings, are set with the most modern audio-video equipment.

The centre is divided into 6 rooms for a total capacity of 500 people. Because parking is difficult in Cortona, Hotel San Michele, with its private garage, is the perfect solution for attending events.

Museum in Cortona

The Diocesan Museum of Cortona is located opposite the cathedral in the architectural complex of Jesus, extended on the initiative of Monsignor Giuseppe Franciolini in 1945 with the renovation of an annex in which, in addition to accommodation of the caretaker and the direction of the museum is housed on two floors a context of exhibition halls. The museum is divided into nine exhibition halls and houses works of art ranging from the second century AD to the modern art of this century coming mostly from churches in the city and placed here for reasons of conservation and security. They hold important works by Luca Signorelli, Pietro Lorenzetti, Fra Angelico. His nudes anticipate Michelangelo while his landscapes echo the rhythmic compositions of Perugino.The Diocesan Museum is located in front of the Cathedral, inside the architectural complex named "Of Jesus". The MAEC - The Museum of the Etruscan, today Maec or Museum of the Etruscan city of Cortona, has eighteenth-century origins. The original center was founded in 1727, when Abbot Onofrio Baldelli donated his collection and his library Etruscan Academy, just constituted by brothers Marcello, Philip and Ridolfino Venuti and a small group of young noble Cortona, interested Enlightenment. Studies promoted and published in the Academy, who thanks to their authors assumed a European importance, gave rise to the movement of etruscheria, whose gradual evolution arose the modern discipline of archeology.

In particular, the Museum has continuously enriched, from the eighteenth century, with many works of archaeological interest, found in the territory of Cortona, or donated by various members, and with art and crafts from different historical periods. Next to it, the Library, which was the second main field of interest of the Academy. Today the Museum boasts unique collections in the world and thanks to a project launched two decades ago is now one of the most important Italian museums.

The inauguration of the new rooms was made in 2005, while in 2008 the Maec was enriched with 6 new exhibition halls, where are also exhibited the artifacts found in the amazing Etruscan necropolis of the archaeological area of ​​Sodo, discovered a few years ago.

From A1 Motorway take the Exit “Valdichiana”, direction Perugia. After 13 kilometres, take the 2th Exit for “Cortona” and go on for 6 km, direction Camucia.
Imboccando la S.S. 71 giunti in località Camucia si trova la deviazione per Cortona.
In Camucia follow direction Cortona and continue following the signs that indicate Hotel San Michele. Enter the city gate of Via Guelfa, transit is allowed for our customers 24 hours a day.

Railway station Terontola-Cortona (from Roma km 194, from Firenze Km 122) or railway station Camucia-Cortona.
