At the highest point of the town of Somaen, with lovely
views over the village and surrounding areas,
Posada de Santa Quiteria is a beautiful hotel which resulted
from the renovation and restoration
an old 18th
century house, and an 11th century Arab Castle, a national
monument that belonged to the Dukedom of Medinaceli.
Large windows and fireplaces, granite and wood, were
combined with the castle's rustic and traditional nature
to create a romantic and peaceful atmosphere. The rooms, some
with adjoining gardens, have a surprising and attractive blend
of old and new, with furniture from noted architectural
designers, and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Some have maintained the actual rock on its walls alongside
masonry and adobe works. The restaurant, situated on the
lowest floor, has a big window that leads
out over the garden, where guests can have lunch or dinner.
Regional cuisine is offered, and there is also a wine cellar
with a wonderful selection of Spanish wines. |
