A monastery dating back in its origins to the 18th Century has been painstakingly restored over the last 18 months before Son Brull opened as a hotel on July 25th 2003. Located close to the northern and picturesque village of Pollença, at the foot of the “Puig de Maria”, a small hill with superb views over the Mediterranean and just a 10 minutes drive away from beautiful coves with turquoise crystal clear water. Son Brull is surrounded by more than 30 hectares of land, just off the golf course of Pollença and close to the golf course of Alcanada. The Hotel has been restored, maintaining its historic and architectural features to be converted into a modern, design-oriented luxury property. The interior design has been done by Ignasi Forteza, a young Mallorcan designer and his team. A personal friend of the Suau Family, Ignasi has tried to combine the vanguard style with Mallorcan features to create a sublime space of well-being and calm. 23 rooms of different sizes have been decorated in a vanguard style, with state of the art technology and furniture. The public areas are spacious, with a perfect mix of century old walls and modern decor. A beautiful inner courtyard gives that old mansion an amazing feel.
Mallorca is now producing some superb wines. Few of them are exported, but they are all available at Son Brull. Seriously worth noting are two reds: the amazingly plummy Anima Negra by Francesc Grimalt and the less heady Sot Lefriec, this last in less than 500 cases last year.
