Set up in 2001, The Morgan Hotel is one of Dublin's leading design-focused, boutique hotels.
The stunning, quirky and stylish Morgan Hotel has made its mark by investing in cutting edge design.
As well as being both eclectic and unique, we have a strong focus on offering customers a first class service. We think outside the box at The Morgan, we like to investigate alternative, quirky concepts outside of those traditionally associated with hotels. Within a lifestyle brand, the aim on arrival is to enlighten the senses. Your eyes are drawn to oversized funky and risqué style furniture. White tiles, textured almost hypnotic wall panelling, a crazy upside down chandelier and lots of candles and fun lighting fixtures can be found throughout the entire hotel.
The aim of the ground floor was to make it feel like a traditional hotel with a twist. The reception area is designed in an open styled comfortable practical way. Observe the floating reception desk, the hand carved Chinese dragon chair and the small white facemask sculptures all hand designed. The “ Cheeky Mona Lisa “ and King George Graffiti lifts Banksy style.
The main influence has been the world renowned designer Phillip Starck. In his style, we like to keep everything French boutique with a fun and “out of the box” slant on design. The hotel is deliberately designed to be nice, bright and airy during the day and in the evening it tones down to be seductively dim with a “chill out atmosphere” for the tired and weary traveller returning from a busy day at the office or even sightseeing, leaving the big bad world behind them when they step back through the tall “Alice in Wonderland planters” into The Morgan.
In The Morgan Bar the lights dim, candles flicker, music tempo increases and the cocktails start flowing, whether you`re getting ready for a night on the town or just unwinding and ready to retire, sit back, sip ,chat and savour the company in this very cool atmosphere!
Our guest rooms are unique in design. The wardrobes are designed specifically for the hotel; you won’t see them anywhere else in the world and replicate the carved wall design on the wall in the lobby. All of the beds are hand carved and made in Milan. Mattresses’ have double pocket springs and a quilted top so as you feel you are sinking into a cloud.
The transparent chair is a Philip Stark design. The desk is made using white onyx so that the light goes through it quite easily. These desks light up. The Art in each room is strategically positioned so that the different colours suit different light, moods and relaxation.
At first glance, the lighting seems quite dark, but it is not really, because you have light in specific spaces in the room. We have mood lights beside the beds and the lampshades are handmade in Ireland to create a warm glow in the contemporary rooms. The whole atmosphere is chilled and calm, while still feeling light and white. The rooms are uncluttered and deliberately simple.
The whole idea of the bathroom is to take everything off the floor to make it float and to make the floor space feel bigger, while still feeling airy. There are super speakers under the sinks in the bathrooms too. The White Company from London – supply our toiletries in all bathrooms exclusively. There is a hand held shower for the ladies (who want to wash their hair) and a controller for the rainforest Shower at the other end of the bath so as the temperature can be controlled before entering the shower.
All areas of the hotel deliberately flow into each other creating a smooth relaxed even Zen like atmosphere with a surprise around the next corner.
