Excellent service is the very essence of La Torre del Visco. The young staff, one per room, have been here an average of 10 years and are either from the area or committed to it. They have all been trained by the Hotel in accordance with concepts to embody the helpful and professional ethos. They are smiling and attentive but never intrusive, totally dedicated to making every guest as comfortable as possible during their stay.

Sitting rooms and library
Few hotels devote so much space to sitting rooms that encourage conversation, quiet reading or simply a perfect spot from which to admire the views. Even when the hotel is full, everyone can find their own private corner to retreat to or, maybe take a seat at the Bechstein piano and play for their own pleasure. The hotel’s approach to decoration, at once eclectic and inviting, is guided by the principle that design and visual impact must always be accompanied by comfort.
The Library is a treasure trove of more than 2000 books on every subject from art, sculpture, history, flora and fauna of Spain through to fiction and poetry, for the guests to browse and read. It also offers an extensive collection of classical music, opera and jazz on CD, and a beautifully carved wooden chess set. What better place to while away an hour, free from the constraints and time pressure of daily life?
The Hotel takes great pride in the gardens, having designed every detail to enhance the pleasure of the guests. Over three protected levels there are romantic corners with tables and chairs, arched walkways, rose-covered pergolas, lush lawns, mature trees for summer shade and benches strategically placed to enjoy the views. The gentle murmur of water and the scent of over 100 rose varieties - at their very best between May and June - will soothe the most weary soul.
Breakfast & open kitchen
In farmhouses the kitchen has always been the heart of the house and the Hotel has respected this tradition from the very beginning. Today, it is still the most popular place for many guests to linger throughout the day.
Breakfasts are served with no time limit for those who enjoy the communal table and an abundance of local produce, eggs cooked to your specifications, Teruel cured ham carved as you watch, artisan cheeses, fresh orange juice, quince jelly, jams and honey and, of course, the essential ‘pan con tomate’ prepared with the hotel’s own olive oil. In fine weather, breakfasts on the terrace will start your day with spectacular views.
All guests are welcome to the informal ‘chef’s table’ throughout the day to watch the hotel team at work, exchange recipes and learn some of the professional tricks of the trade. The ‘open kitchen’ philosophy creates a very social space where conversation and friendships spring up spontaneously.
Art courses: The Hotel natural landscape and stunning views provide the perfect environment for art courses. The scenery in the Matarranya rivals that which inspired the impressionists Cezánne and Matisse in Provence, and provided the setting for the genesis of Cubism, as it was here, in the nearby village of Horta de Sant Joan, that Picasso spent the summers of 1898 and 1909 painting. The excellent Centre Picasso museum in Horta records this period in his young life.
Bicycles and picnics: Whatever the time of year, there are wonderful cycling routes throughout the hotel grounds. Take one of the hotel mountain bikes – free for all the guests – and the Hotel will take care of the rest. La Torre del Visco can help you plan a short or long route with a picturesque break by the river or in the woods, to enjoy a delicious picnic prepared by the Hotel. End the day with a renewed sense of wellbeing in such natural surroundings.

If fancy company, Clouseau, our Pyrenean mastiff, is always happy to come along.
