Villa Campestri's oldest part dates back to the 13th century. Since then it was the property of the Roti Michelozzi family who owned it for 700 years, until 1989. Many writings confirm that in 1380 the Roti Michelozzi family commissioned Lorenzo Bicci (Giotto's pupil) to paint in fresco the tabernacle, which is still situated at the entrance of the Villa. During this period the little chapel (still consecrated) was created inside the Villa.
