Ossola is an area of  high mountains, where nature is the real protagonist, offering itself intact to the tourist. Skiing as well as all other sports can be practised on ski runs which meet the needs of everybody, from beginners to experts. In Spring and Summer, there are thousands of tracks for lovers who can find hospitality in the many mountain refuges and campings of the great natural parks such as  National Park of the Val Grande aimed at the preservation of the Alps' flora and fauna.  The Ossola Area, like the Verbano Area, has many meaningful historic  and artistic evidences. To remind it, there is   the ancient village of Vogogna, a Medieval burg with cobble-stone paving alleys, which became, in XIV century, an important political and military centre, as testified by the ruins of Castello Visconteo and the Rock. From Vogogna by car in only 15 minutes you can reach the famous Lago Maggiore, the province of Verbania, Lago of Mergozzo and Domodossola. Not far from there, you will find  Macugnaga (for skiing), and the Water falls of Formazza (highest in Europe).
