Vichy brings together all the
ingredients for an ideal short break destination : an excellent environment
with water and green spaces, cultural activities, sporting activities,
balneotherapy. Surrounded by many areas of natural beauty, with verdant
parks and gardens, Vichy is a town in the countryside, but a real town with
a complete and very modern infrastructure, full of activities.
It is situated in the central
part of France, in the north of the "Massif Central", in the Department of
the Allier in the region Auvergne.
In the heart of the of the
Bourbonnaise mountains ( birthplace of the Bourbons) and in the edge of the park of the
Auvergne volcanoes, the
town is world-wide known for its therapeutic spa treatments and the hot
water springs, of which the water is used for drinking cures.
This small city on the
Allier River has been known since the Roman era for its hot and cold
springs, and reputed cures for rheumatism, arthritis and digestive
complaints.
Always was, and still is, strongly associated with health-tourism.
Also of interest in Vichy 2 casinos, a renowned opera house considered
a historic monument, a horse race-track, and
countless health-, spa-, and fitness establishments.
