The Victoria Palace opened
in 2004, this is a traditional Italian style city hotel, located two
blocks away from the beach. All rooms are standard and offer the comfort
one would expect from an Italian 4 star, which is simply good and clean,
nothing fancy. The hotel is open all year, because it caters to business
travelers who come all year, as well as to tourists during season. When
the summer season starts, the atmosphere changes completely and the
beach becomes the main theme. There is a private beach (in Italy this is
known as a Lido) only 5 minutes away from the hotel, here you will find
all the ambiance and disco live you would have never imagined to find.
During your stay at The Victoria Palace, enjoy a healthy Mediterranean
diet in the restaurant, which offers a choice of exquisite dishes based
on the traditions of Salentine cuisine, all made using a wide variety of
fresh ingredients produced locally, and best of all, dinner is included
in your room rate! You can accompany the meals with the best of the
area’s excellent wines: Primitivo and Negroamaro.
A 2 hour guided tour to the old town of Gallipoli, which is absolutely
worthwhile visiting, is possible every Wednesday afternoon and is free
for all hotel guests, don’t miss it. Or you can take a boat tour, but
this one costs 40 Euros per person. It contours the old town peninsula
and also goes to a nearby island, where you cannot walk into the island
because its reserve full of bird species not found elsewhere.
Beach services include transportation to the Lido, sun beds, umbrellas
and deck chairs, all for only 6 Euros a day per person. At the beach
there is a bar and light meals.
There are also golf-courses and horse riding lessons nearby, all of
which can be arranged by the hotel staff.
By May of 2011 the new wing and Spa should be finished, and all the
existing rooms will be updated. |
