Villa Dragonetti is only
a few kilometres away from l’Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo and
within a short drive from the Gran Sasso National Park.
The hotel was originally
built in the 16th century as a private summer residence for the
Dragonetti de Torres family. In the 18th century the villa was
almost entirely decorated with frescoes by french artists.
The hotel is unique in the fact that it only has 10 rooms (3 of them
recently built in the dependance overlooking the knot gardens on
ground floor level. They are smaller and are decorated in a country
style, but air-conditioned), each named after a colour, and the
decoration of each is truly individual and in keeping with the
period of the building.
The public rooms are adorned with ancient family relics and
paintings.
Villa Dragonetti is also set in lovely gardens where guests can
enjoy an aperitif before their evening meal. The restaurant is well
known for its cuisine and its speciality regional dishes and it is
always opened at diner for the hotel guests. |
