The resort’s VIP option for
the international jet set goes by the name of Villa Galini.
Built in a wonderful position overlooking the Domaine Porto Carras, the
villa, which resembles a smaller version of a Mt. Athos monastery, is
the work of renowned Greek architect Kapsambelis.
Villa Galini was designed as the home of the Carras family and has
played host to leading figures such as Melina Merkouri, Constantinos
Caramanlis, Salvador Dali, Rudolf Nureyev, Francois Mitterand and Valery
Giscard D'Estaing.
Galini in Greek means
serenity. This would be an understatement for this magnificent villa
with a breathtaking sea-view, 17 luxurious rooms and suites, a sauna and
a pool. One of its bathrooms was designed by Salvador Dali, a frequent
guest of the villa; the tiles of another one were by Yves Saint Laurent,
while the table in the dining hall dates from the Byzantine period.
Special details that underline its uniqueness.
A true piece of heaven, on the
highest point of the land. |
