Your luxury hotel in the heart of Madrid
Located in the Salamanca district, one of the city’s most exclusive and sophisticated neighbourhoods the Villa Magna embodies the fashionable side of Madrid.
Surrounded by one of the main shopping districts as well as by the financial district the Hotel Villa Magna is the ideal place to stay in the heart of the capital of Spain.
Madrid is not only the largest, but also the most visited city of Spain. This is no surprise as it possesses an incredible wealth of cultural attractions. From the “Art Triangle”; the Prado Museum, the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum, through to the smaller, although equally impressive art galleries, theatres, auditoriums and foundations.
In Madrid you can find almost everything, variety is a characteristic. In the heart of Madrid in the Salamanca neighbourhood one can discover the most famous international brands and in the Calle Fuencarral the best of alternative fashion. Madrid transcends fashion; you cannot define its style as it represents a combination of all trends.
In this city, gastronomy is as much about cuisine as it is culture, leisure and business. The culinary offers are varied in this gastronomic city, where you can taste traditional dishes and the most innovative and creative cuisine.
The glorious past of the luxury Villa Magna in Madrid is evident in countless details of classic elegance. In the last century, where this comfortable, modern building stands today on the Paseo de la Castellana, was the Palace of Anglada. The palace, with its Moorish influence, was built around a courtyard styled on the Lions of the Alhambra in Granada and was restored by the very same architect as this replica. It was splendidly furnished with exquisite works of art, marble and sumptuous upholstery. Written records spoke of the harmony and style of the building, as well as the magnificent fiestas which were held in its gardens.
However, its beauty did not save the palace from demolition in the 1960`s. Thankfully an entrepreneur had the dream of building a grand hotel on the same site with the same sophistication. It would once again be a place for high society to meet and a significant centre for business. When the Hotel opened in May 1972 its guests soon realised that this was not just another hotel: it had once again become their “home in Madrid”.
In 2007, the Villa Magna closed its doors in order to undergo an extensive renovation. The result is the luxury hotel you see today: a spacious, bright hotel where Empire chairs, Bauhaus concepts and Chinese screens combine to create a welcoming and luxurious atmosphere. It has become a modern hotel par excellence set apart thanks to the exquisite care of the staff. A happy ending to a historic story.
From the moment you step inside until the moment you leave; you will enjoy the friendly yet efficient service and total discretion of the Villa Magna staff. You will always feel that you are part of a family that understands your needs and desires.
The golden keys that our Concierge wears on their lapels is a sign of their professionalism, awarded by Les Clefs d’Or association. It also guarantees that our staff has been trained to the highest standards by the very best in the profession.
Our Concierge will be delighted to provide detailed information about the best restaurants, the most interesting exhibitions and fashionable boutiques in Madrid.
The Villa Magna is proud that Manuel Pizarro, our Head Concierge, has been a member of staff for over 30 years. Manuel´s experience and knowledge have led him to become President of Les Clefs d’Or in Spain, an international benchmark in his profession. He and his dedicated team of Concierge are motivated by a genuine desire to serve. Their aim is to find an answer to your request, whatever it is that you require.
The Villa Magna which our guests enjoy today is the result of an extensive refurbishment that was completed in 2009, and which provides an even greater level of comfort and elegance in both the guest rooms and the public areas, both indoors and outdoors. As you enter the hotel lobby and to create the sensation of space, a large window was created to give a marvellous view to the Magnum Patio. To add a sophisticated touch the walls were adorned with Bauhaus and Vienna Secession designs. Different styles also combine among the furnishings: Louis XVI rosewood consoles, exotic screens and rugs with their geometric shapes give warmth to the marble floors.
From the center of the lobby the black grand piano can be seen at the end, and from the lounges the sculpture in the Lobby are visible. The windows overlooking the Lounge Terrace serve to create the sensation of space and are set off with specially designed lace curtains.
Four new pillars and a spectacular bar make this a private yet inviting space. It has its own personality which manages at the same time to make the guest feel relaxed. The tables recreate the atmosphere of a café in Vienna while the carpet is inspired by Russian Constructivism.
Our Restaurante Villa Magna has beautiful natural light, complimented by the choice of light colours and a large framed mirror that reflects the space as a painting. The beauty of the carpentry work and the relaxing upholstery combine to make a perfect ambience in which to enjoy your dining experience.
The same formula is used as in the common areas: soft lighting, bright colours and warm fabrics, to make our guests feel at home in rooms furnished with luxurious king beds.

Surrounded by the city’s main shopping streets and attraction, the Villa Magna offers an exclusive and ideal location in Calle Serrano. Our luxury Hotel is the perfect place to stay while visiting Madrid.
Take a look at our top things to do and to see in Madrid.
The Villa Magna is located on this six-kilometre-long avenue along with elegant palaces and skyscrapers. Thriving with economic and commercial activity, it is the axis that divides the city in two, from north to south. At the most northerly point is the Torre Bankia, designed by Norman Foster, which, with a height of 250 metres, makes it the tallest building in Spain and the fifth tallest in Europe.
Paseo de la Castellana meets Paseo del Prado where you can find three major art museums: El Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía. It is also replete with splendid cafés, beautiful buildings such as the Palacio de Linares, home to the Casa de America, and emblematic squares of Cibeles and Neptuno. If you are looking to escape from the hustle and bustle, head for the luscious greenery of the Royal Botanical Gardens.
It is hard not to be marvelled by the beauty of this magnificent park, with its romantic spots such as the Rosaleda, the Parterre and the Crystal Palace, a resplendent space which organises interesting temporary exhibitions. The park is open every day of the year. Each season has its own distinctive charm; in spring it bursts into bloom; in summer it offers a respite from the heat; in autumn it brings a flourish of colour and in winter enjoy freshly baked chestnuts. It is also the perfect place for practicing sport.
Madrid was born as the capital of Spain from the labyrinth of narrow pedestrian streets where historic landmarks such as the Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real stand out. The Plaza Mayor is still as vibrant as ever, especially under the arcades, while the Palacio Real is well worth a visit to see its diverse collections. During the summer, the nearby Sabatini Gardens become the setting for flamenco, zarzuela and classical music performances. From there you can marvel at the city’s spectacular sunsets, a true local phenomenon thanks to Madrid’s clear skies. The terraces encircling the Plaza de Oriente are the best places to see them from.
A profound facelift has made this already charming neighbourhood even more attractive. It owes its name to the fact that some of the most important writers of Spanish literature were born here. At the heart of the neighbourhood is the ever pulsating Plaza Santa Ana, from where a labyrinth of quiet streets lead off, inviting you to explore them and their antique shops and art galleries at your leisure.
Madrid’s busiest street is the Gran Vía, where cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues converge in the shadow of the showcase buildings of the twentieth century. It is linked by a pedestrian street, Preciados, with the Puerta del Sol, the heart of Madrid and the Kilometre Zero of the entire country. Here is where Calle de Alcalá starts, a symbol of the splendour of a bygone era; the Carrera de San Jerónimo, home of the Congreso, the Spanish Parliament, and the streets of Calle Mayor and Calle Arenal that lead, respectively, to the Plaza Mayor and the Teatro de la Ópera.
Considered by bullfighters and experts to be the greatest bullring in the world, it is the second largest in diameter, only surpassed by the Plaza de Ronda, and the third largest in terms of capacity, after the bullrings of Mexico City and Valencia, in Venezuela. In May the Feria de San Isidro takes place when the very best of the season converge.
On the corner of Paseo de la Castellana and Calle Ortega y Gasset the Restaurante Villa Magna continues to innovate.
With Amalio Prados as Executive Chef, the Restaurante Villa Magna strives to create the finest gastronomic experiences. With a philosophy focused on absolute respect for local product, quality is the foundation stone: always using the finest available product to compliment the changing seasons.
