About Abruzzo |
| |
|
Nestled between the Gran
Sasso, the Majella and the Adriatic sea, on the border
between the Marche and Molise, for everyone Abruzzo has
become a linchpin region between northern and southern Italy
and a bridgehead for the Balkans. "Abruzzo, strong and
gentle", is how we have always been described. Strong
because we have stayed tied to our roots and, at the same
time, offer a gentle welcome to the different customs of
thousands of visitors. A trip to Abruzzo is a chance to
discover historical and religious pageants of great appeal,
charming villages and castles of all ages, but above all to
find an un spoilt natural environment: three National Parks,
two regional parks and eleven national and regional nature
reserves have resulted in Abruzzo being elected "green
region of Europe". In the same way, we have jealously
safeguarded age-old gastronomic traditions, closely tied to
religious festivals and to agrarian and seasonal places and
rites. A cuisine that of Abruzzo that has always been
considered "poor" or better still "plain", used to using
products of a land favored by mild weather and environmental
conditions. From seafood to mountain agro-pastoral
specialties, a triumph of flavors and perfumes accompanied
by a glass of cool Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, fruity Cerasuolo, or
full-bodied Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. |
