Relais Villa Petrischio was built on the highest hill of Farneta and maintains the original architecture and characteristics from the beginning of the 19th century including the brick arches and oak beams in the ceilings. The accommodation offers guests a pleasantly relaxing experience, after a walk in the park or a trip to visit the "pearls of the valley".
Pines and cypresses surround Relais Villa Petrischio offering ample possibility for relaxing walks. Within the three hectare park there is a possibility to find many beautiful details as little rose fountain and a Japanese garden. From the swimming pool terrace it is possible to look at an inimitable sunset.
Relais Villa Petrischio lies in area where you can not only find the antique tastes of Tuscany, but also tastes of Umbria and Lazio. The Relais offer for guests a “gastronomic tour” in which original and fantasy recipes are blended by a professional and capable cooks who are interpreting the “poor” cooking of the renaissance peasants.
It is a journey to discover things like crostini’s (small pieces of toast with a variety of toppings) toasted Tuscan bread also with various toppings, “Aqua cotta”, ”Ribollita”, black Tuscan cabbage soup, coaled steaks from the famous “Chianina”, refined risottos with high quality meat, compositions of vegetables and irresistible desserts.
In addition to the better known Tuscan cities, such as Florence, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, there are many “minor” towns and places which are worth while a visit and can be easily reached by car from Villa Petrischio.
A few minutes away one finds Farneta, summer center of antiques fairs, well known for its magnificent painting of Beato Angelico and its famous Etruhian Museum.
Pienza, founded by Pope Pio II and realised by piccolomini, is the city “born from a love thought and a dream of beauty” a jewel in Renaissance Art. Pienza is also well known for its typical gastronomy shops, full of Tuscan specialities.
Other beautiful places to visit : San Quirico d’Orcia, with its marvellous XIII century Roman Collegiate Church and the XVI century Horti Leonini.
Sant’Antimo, with its beautiful Abbey, founded by Carlo Magno. Montalcino, kingdom of Brunello wine. Banfi Castle, ancient fortress on the way to the sea, recently restored and now museum of the most refined glass-making tecniques for wine bottling.
Bagno Vignoni, termal centre which is well known by Romans and frequent destination of Lorenzo il Magnifico and S.Caterina of Siena
