Villa Campestri's oldest part dates back to the 13th century. Since then it was the property of the Roti Michelozzi family who owned it for 700 years, until 1989. Many writings confirm that in 1380 the Roti Michelozzi family commissioned Lorenzo Bicci (Giotto's pupil) to paint in fresco the tabernacle, which is still situated at the entrance of the Villa. During this period the little chapel (still consecrated) was created inside the Villa.
In the centuries that followed the Villa Campestri was modified and enlarged many times in order to meet the new requirements of its owners. Important restoration works were undertaken in the XVth and XVIIth centuries, giving Villa Campestri its Renaissance ambience.
Original wooden-ceilings, terracotta floors, stone door frames complete the Renaissance spirit of the house.
