Villa Giustinian is a venetian
villa from the 17th century with some of the most beautiful suites ever
to be seen where everything is original! There are eight suites in the
main villa and thirty five modern rooms in two buildings called the
Barchessa and the Fattoressa. This buildings probably older than the
Villa, were the former stable and barn. The salons, staircases and
suites in the Villa, all display a wonderful array of art work including
some magnificent frescoes which were recovered by knocking off the
layers of paint that covered them for centuries after an epidemic which
they could only overcome by disinfecting the environment. And for this,
the walls had to be covered with paint. It took a year and a half for
five specialists to uncover all these paintings. They had to chipped off
inch by inch, but it was definitely worth it. There are also some
beautiful stuccoes in the Villa, all bearing testimony to the noblemen,
ladies and rich merchants that lived here in the golden days of the 17th
century. |
