Hauptstrasse, 162 76327 Pfinztal (Baden-Württemberg) − Germany
Villa Hammerschmiede is eager to show its guests what sophisticated hotel comfort and restaurant culture can look like today when based on a strong vision.
Yet without a true love of gastronomy and hostelry, the enjoyment and commitment expressed toward this profession, Villa Hammerschmiede would be “only” a hotel, albeit a very attractive one.
Our colleagues all enjoy their work. And that is possibly the most remarkable aspect of Villa Hammerschmiede.
It was the vast mansion owned for decades by the Krupp Company that challenged me to fulfil my dreams. As your hosts, we strive to be “the family” in the best tradition of the term.
An intimate atmosphere in the hotel and restaurant, customer satisfaction and optimal value for money… Family and staff alike take great pride in their work and aim to offer you simply the best.
When Norbert Schwalbe bought the old Villa, it was the first step toward fulfilling a dream. He and his family wanted to be hoteliers with a team of staff who share their passion for their work.
The starting point was a vast mansion built in 1893. The outer structure carefully restored, the rooms brand new, stylishly renovated. His knowledge of today’s gastronomic opportunities was put to good use, producing very convincing results. A new hotel was thus created under the management of Annette Schwalbe, the owner’s daughter.
With 25 rooms and 5 distinctly exclusive suites offering a total of 59 beds, the hotel is a haven of cosiness.
A music and fireplace room and a library invite you to sit down and relax for a while. We also offer roomy meeting rooms equipped with the latest in conference technology. Two other small rooms may be used for working groups.
We also care about our guests’ physical wellbeing.
A uniquely shaped swimming pool with counter-current system, sauna, steam bath and whirlpool, and a small fitness room offer varied opportunities to exercise or relax.
The large park is an invitation to stroll or sit and watch the world go by. Where better to spend a holiday or just the weekend than in such a pleasant environment?
Why not extend your conference into a mini-holiday? Villa Hammerschmiede offers adequate parking. Our hotel guests are welcome to use the underground car park. No complicated search – just drive up, get out, and relax.
Markus Nagy managed the hotel kitchens from 1993 to February 2005. In 1996, Villa Hammerschmiede earned a Guide Michelin star for its outstanding achievements.
Thomas Balensiefer was head chef from March 2005 to April 2008. From May 2008 to January 2011, Patrick Spies, who had cooked with Jörg Müller on Sylt and Bernd Stollwerk at Gut Lärchenhof before joining Villa Hammerschmiede as sous-chef in 2005, succeeded him.
The historical background of Villa Hammerschmiede is closely linked to the history of the Söllingen foundries. In the 18th century, the margrave and later grand-duke Karl-Friedrich was keen to “promote the wellbeing and industriousness of his lands” by setting up a foundry at the district boundary of Söllingen and Kleinsteinbach.
Blacksmith Johann Goblée was responsible for planning the facility, which was later operated by his widow. In 1893, the Villa was erected as the director’s place of residence by the owner of the time.
In 1930, the company Gottfried Herte sold the property to Krupp AG’s tungsten plant in Baden.
The Krupp era saw the company rise and fall, ending in 1973 with the sale and dismantling of its facilities. In 1989, businessman Norbert Schwalbe purchased the property to fulfil a dream, transforming it into a particularly charming hotel.

We offer high-quality services and consultation. Quality is our priority, whether at the Villa or at external events – as are fresh dishes and carefully selected drinks, and attentive, discrete service provided by our team.
As well our fine cuisine, we boast a vast wine cellar with more than 600 different white, red, sparkling, rosé and sweet wines from the best European growing areas in Italy, Spain, France and, naturally, Germany.
Enjoy selected national and international wine specialties down in the cellar.
Sommelier Benjamin Birk is more than happy to organise wine tastings from your favourite growing area.
Experience an unforgettable barbecue evening in a small group (6 to 8 persons) in our original “kota” hut from Lapland. Summer or winter, now you can grill regardless of the weather! Anyone can organise a barbecue in the summer. But imagine how excited your friends would be to receive an invitation to a cosy November barbecue at Villa Hammerschmiede. In the winter, the “kota” is warmed by the wood fire alone – a rustic evening best enjoyed in jeans and a pullover.
A staff member is assigned to your group to serve the selected drinks and replenish the dishes: you grill your own food on the open fire!
Please fill this form for individuals or for groups and you shall receive an answer written by a live person at Villa Hammerschmiede. This is the only way you can know exactly what room types are available for the dates you want, and the best possible rate, because you are dealing directly with the hotel.
Bear in mind that websites set up to give an automatic answer, work with allocated quotas given by the hotel, therefore when it appears there are no rooms available for the date you want, this is not necessarily true, because they never allocate ALL the rooms to third parties.
