The 16thCentury estate sits on the banks of the Arno River, on 22 acres full of lemon trees and olive groves that surround the property. Villa La Massa is a fascinating Medici dwelling of the 16th century on the outskirts of Florence. Its 22 acres of gardens, complete with olive groves and lemon trees, make for a pastoral setting. It was turned into a luxury hotel in 1948. After a complete renovation by the Villa d'Este Group in 1998 it reopened and its five hundred years of history live on, telling us tales of Renaissance splendour and the lifestyle of Florentine aristocrats in every nook.

There are 37 rooms, mostly Suites and Junior Suites, seated in three buildings toned from pale yellow to terracotta: the Noble Villa (Villa Nobile), the Mill (Il Mulino, XV century) and the little Villa (Il Villino). It is akin to an aristocratic private house sat on the banks of the River Arno, located on the outskirts of Florence.
Tuscan simplicity can be found in every detail; the colors of the textiles and the choice of the room paintings respectful of the context.
Rooms offer an iron four-poster bed draped in classic fabrics, informal boiseries, ceiling frescos, wooden and earthenware tiled floors, elegant tapestries and marble bathrooms.

Is a magnificent suite overlooking the River Arno with a private garden and terrace. Villa La Massa is graced with 22 acres of gardens that surround it, full of paths that lead you to the Arno River and from which you can only see the beautiful panorama of the Chianti-Rufina hills that surround it.
Our Chef has cultivated a corner of these gardens where seasonal vegetables and fruits are grown and where he not only tends to his garden, but also gets inspiration for his menus. The Chef is happy to have guests accompany him as he tends to his organic garden, illustrating along the way the singular characteristics of each herb, vegetable or fruit tree.
A limited number of precious olive oil bottles is produced every year from the olive groves that surround the property.

In the western part of the garden of the villa there is a small chapel with a sacristy, dating back to the days of the Rinuccini, that can hold a maximum of twenty-five people. Here it is possible to celebrate Catholic Mass and Weddings in an atmosphere of great charm.

Located in the Mill building, across the hall from the Il Verrocchio restaurant, The Rinuccini room takes its name from the Rinuccini noble family, which lived in the house until 1826. This is a bright and airy room with a large windows that open up onto the gardens outside, giving the room a nice balance with the nature outside. In the garden right outside the Rinuccini it is possible to organize very nice coffee breaks or cocktails.

The tour starts early in the morning, just before dawn, and can last 45 minutes, 1 hour or 1 and a half hours. The air-balloons can hold 3 to 4 passengers per basket. After the flight a Champagne-Breakfast is offered and a souvenir certificate. The guests are fetched from the hotel and reaccompanied there at the end of the trip.

Dedicated to S. Maria del Fiore, the Cathedral is the fruit of the dedicated work of the many artists who collaborated in its building for various centuries. Dome Brunelleschi’s masterpiece, planned and raised between 1420 and 1434.

Situated in the Noble Villa, the Medicean Bar offers a wide selection of grappe (Italian eau-de-vie), whiskies, brandies and cocktails. The Pool Bar is open during the summer months and is located near the swimming-pool with a view of the Arno.
The Tuscan Bistrot, which is located in the Noble Villa next to the Medicean Bar, offers a cozy ambience where guests can have lunch or dinner.
At the Medicean Bar, the Pool Bar or the Tuscan Bistrot guests will find a menu with a selection of dishes by the Chef available for both lunch and dinner. Throughout the day the Medicean Bar and the Pool Bar are open for light snacks.

Situated in the Mill beneath the Restaurant "Il Verrocchio", filled with charm and atmosphere of old Tuscan cellars, the Cellar is the ideal place for wine with cheeses and cutlets tasting or for private wine tasting parties.
