The
Chianti Classico region is located in Tuscany between Florence and Siena and
amounts to a total of 70.000 hectares. It includes nine communes: Barberino
Val d’Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in
Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Poggibonsi, Radda in Chianti, San Casciano Val di
Pesa e Tavernelle Val di Pesa.
Chianti Classico is a hilly area, most of which is covered with forests,
with altitudes ranging from 200 to 600 meters.
Chianti Classico wine can be made
exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. The grape mixture can also
include three other varities: red Canaiolo, Malvasia and Trebbiano.
The countryside is also worth visiting for villages, monasteries, castles
