The holiday residence of the Waldhotel Davos is situated in the alpine tranquillity of the wild and romantic Sertig Valley
The fascinating history of the Waldhotel Davos, built in 1911 as a sanatorium, begins with the rapid growth of the small mountain village into a world-famous health resort. The celebrated author Thomas Mann also plays an important role, as it was while visiting his sick wife Katia, who was staying in the "Waldsanatorium" for curative treatments, that he found the inspiration for his famous novel "The Magic Mountain". After the discovery of streptomycin and the development of drugs to fight tuberculosis, the era of the sanatorium came to an abrupt end in the early '50s. In 1957, the house was rebuilt and converted into a hotel, quickly becoming a haven for people in search of relaxation. Today, the 4-star superior hotel shines in new splendour following extensive refurbishment and expansion and delights its guests with a perfect symbiosis of historical features, modern materials and personal service. Since it first opened in 1911, the Waldhotel Davos has been under the ownership of the German von Gemmingen family.

It was the Dining Room in which Thomas Mann's protagonist Hans Castorp fell in undying love with his Madame Chauchat. The unique and romantic ambiance that is still present in our historic restaurant might cast a spell over you, too. The original panelled ceiling dating back to 1911 and the closed semi-circular arch that once adorned the open sun terrace make time stand still for a moment.
Our Dining Room serves a variety of light dishes à la carte and the 5-course menu included in half-board.

The with 16 Gault Millau points awarded headchef Jeroen Achtien is now cooking in the Fine Dining Restaurant SENS 1605. It clearly connects on a remarkable culinary level with the history of the Magic Mountain. Exquisite meals and fine dining are, after all, an integral part of the novel. For an unforgettable culinary experience, allow Jeroen Achtien and his team to take you on a journey into a delicious world of innovative and exciting creations.
