Located 300 meters from the Hotel, guests will find Waterford Castle's 18 Hole Championship Golf Course. The unique Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Club is Ireland's only true island golf resort. Completely detached from the mainland yet ideally located for an Irish golfing vacation or exploring the many Irish golf courses nearby.
Designed by Des Smyth, former Ryder Cup player, and opened in 1992, this 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course, complete with luxurious clubhouse, leads you through mature woodland and parkland. The course itself runs to 6,814 yards, off the medal tees, and covers an area of over 200 acres. Despite being completely surrounded by water Waterford Castle has an additional four internal water features on the second, third, fourth and sixteenth holes The layout reveals attractive rolling fairways and subtle contoured greens, magnificently blended into the sensational setting of this Island Dream!

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Whether you are a beginner or experienced, clay pigeon shooting is available for all levels with tuition and equipment provided. Clay shooting is available all year round for individual guests or groups of up to 10. 48 Hours advance notice is required.

Archery
Test your skills with one of the oldest sports in the world. Using traditional competition long bows and round targets set on tripods.  The lessons provided are ideally suited for groups of 8 to 15 persons, utilizing 3 targets.  After the course a competition commences to evaluate the contestants.

Tennis
2 hard court tennis courts available. Complimentary use of racquets and tennis balls.

Boules
Boules (Petanque) originates from Greece and arrived in France about 600 years ago and involves small balls and a but.

Waterford Island

Fishing
An abundance of clean rivers, lakes and miles of coastline makes for a rewarding and very relaxing holiday.  Five of Irelands most majestic rivers, the River Barrow, the River Nore, the River Suir, Blackwater, and Slaney flow to sea in this region and therefore the opportunities are both varied and interesting with many species of marine fish. One can fish from boat or shore with practically guaranteed rewards when the fish are 'on the take'.

On elevated ground in the Ballyscanlan Hills overlooking the expansive Tramore Bay, Lake Tour Stables are fully geared to meet the every need of the visitor to this most interesting area. In addition to the expected range of services they provide trail rides and hacking in a professional but relaxed manner calculated to match the holiday mood of their visitors. Beach treks provided in off-season.
