Bad Ragaz has stood for bathing tradition, wonderful natural surroundings, fresh mountain air, optimal relaxation and a wide range of sports activities for centuries. The Palais Bad Ragaz, with its princely elegance, exquisite restaurants and unique charm, is located at this world-renowned spa resort – a tribute to wellbeing and the healing power of thermal water.

Spend a night in historic elegance

The listed palace building dates from the 18th century and is therefore the oldest building of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. Already in 1774 Abbot Benedikt Bochsler built the then governor's office in Ragaz. Today the preserved wing "Palais" houses magnificent rooms and suites as well as the restaurants IGNIV by Andreas Caminada and the charming Zollstube.

The emergence of the Hotel Palais Bad Ragaz

A jewel of baroque architecture

Our present Boutique Hotel Palais Bad Ragaz was already built in the last quarter of the 18th century. Abbot Benedikt Boxler had the opulent Palais Hof Ragaz built in 1774. Before the impressive building with its late-baroque flourishes became an exclusive hotel, it served as the governor’s offices of the Pfäfers monastery until the monastery was closed in 1838. When wooden pipelines were built in 1840 to transport the spring water from the nearby Tamina Gorge to Bad Ragaz, the town quickly attracted attention and attracted spa guests from all over the world to Bad Ragaz. Today, the Hotel Palais Bad Ragaz is one of the most beautiful boutique hotels not only in Switzerland, but in the whole world.

From the governor's offices to a boutique hotel

In 1841, Felix Wilhelm Kubly transformed the governor’s offices into an exclusive hotel. Later renovations, on the ground floor resulted in lasting changes to the original structure; for example, the dining room that Kubly created was replaced by a modern hall. From the outside, however, the building seems practically untouched. The Palais was fully restored by Thermalbäder und Grand-Hotels AG in 1976.

Breathtaking splendour in the Music Salon

With its truly princely atmosphere, the dazzling restored music salon offers visitors to the Palais a glimpse into all its earlier splendour and luxury. The wide room, which is suffused with natural light, is dominated by the yellow stucco marble wall panels, which draw the eye up to the intricately decorated ceilings.
